Details
This Nepali handmade "paper" is made from the inner bark of a wild shrub locally known as "Lokta," which is found at altitudes of 7,000 to 9,000 feet. The "Lokta Bush" has characteristics of re-growing again and again after pruning.
5 x 6 inches, 5 Bodhi leaf cards/envelopes and enclosures. This is a fun little card set. Each card contains a Bodhi leaf and an enclosure. In Nepal the Bodhi leaf is thought to bring patience and enlightenment to those who possess it. They make wonderful thank-you cards for wedding gifts or just to have on hand for your own use to go with a quick gift. The whole set comes in a pouch tied together in the front by a string.
The following story is on the back of each card: In Nepal they would never write on the card, it is considered to be part of the gift. They would write on the enclosed piece and continue to replace it over and over again, while the card travels on. The more worn the card becomes, the more valuable it becomes, because of all of the giving that has been associated with it on its journey. When it is finally worn out it is framed and hung in their home as a sign of good fortune.
The handcrafted nature of these products will produce slight variations in color. All measurements are approximate. Your purchase comes already gift wrapped in a shimmer sheer organza fabric bag with a double ribbon pull tie.
