High upon a beautiful pine-covered ridge live the women of the women's cooperative of El Cerro, Nicaragua who make these pine needle baskets. They harvest the pine needles and then begin the long process of weaving the baskets by hand. It can take a woman a full week to complete one of the larger baskets. The aroma of pine lingers long after it is finished. Learn more about this cooperative and other groups by visiting our Meet the Artisans page. We loved these fair trade pine needle baskets the moment we picked them up! The craftsmanship is excellent. The sides are smooth, each piece is well-shaped and feels very solid and sturdy. Baskets are approximately 17 inches in diameter and 5 inches in height. Your purchase comes already gift wrapped in a shimmer sheer organza fabric bag with a double ribbon pull tie.
